Ñancu Lahuen
A restaurant serving home-style regional cooking, and a tea house with handmade chocolates, cakes and ice cream. Two neighbouring wooden houses, run by a Villa Traful family, just steps from the lake.
A Villa Traful story
Ñancu Lahuen belongs to the Christensen Gresznaryk family. Esther Christensen started out selling cakes at the campsites in summer; in 1991 Luis Brogger taught her the secrets of chocolate, and Esteban Gresznaryk built the typical mountain cottage where the tea house still runs today. It opened its doors on 13 March 1993.
Today the legacy lives on with their daughters: Patricia runs the chocolate shop and tea house, and Cristina cooks at the restaurant next door.
The name comes from a medicinal plant that grows on the summit of Cerro Negro. Legend has it that a white eagle (ñancu) dropped its leaves (lahuen) so that a young man could heal his beloved.
